Moment-E serves as an Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) application designed for use by researchers examining daily fluctuations in mood and cognition. It facilitates data collection in a structured manner by prompting participants throughout the day.

The app issues reminder notifications up to five times daily over a two-week period, inviting users to complete a brief 15-item questionnaire. Prior to gaining access to the application, participants must agree to informed consent, which has been sanctioned by a university Institutional Review Board (IRB).

The intended users of Moment-E are individuals participating in research studies who opt to engage with the app for this two-week duration, thereby contributing valuable data on mood fluctuation patterns.

Post the initial two-week engagement, users retain access to the app for an additional two years. Although reminders will cease after the conclusion of the two weeks, participants may choose to continue using the app at their discretion. By participating, users play a significant role in advancing scientific understanding of mood and cognitive processes.
